Training

I plan on using the Galloway training method. As I am hoping to do a half in October as well, my goal is to use one of the training methods from his books for that, and then afterwards, switch over to the time improvement plan posted on the RunDisney site.

I am hoping I will be able to keep up with the schedule, as I have a busy 3 months ahead of me in terms of my schedule for school. Some days may get switched around, but my goal is to try and continue to run 3 days a week and be able to run the Detroit Half Marathon in October!

Here's my plans until my half in October!

Week 1:
Tue 7/24 - 25 min run/walk
Thur 7/26 - 25 min run/walk
Sun 7/29 - 5 mile run/walk

Week 2:
Tue 7/31 - 25 min run/walk
Thur 8/2 - 25 min run/walk
Sun 8/5 - 6 mile run/walk

Week 3:
Tue 8/7 - 25 min run/walk
Thur 8/9 - 25 min run/walk
Sun 8/12 - 7 mile run/walk

Week 4:
Tue 8/14 - 27 min run/walk
Thur 8/16 - 27 min run/walk
Sun 8/19 - 8 mile run/walk

Week 5: 
Tue 8/21 - 30 min run/walk
Thur 8/23 - 30 min run/walk
Sun 8/26 - 10 mile run/walk

Week 6:
Tue 8/28 - 30 min run/walk
Thur 8/30 - 30 min run/walk
Sun 9/2 - 3x800m (on a track - run each 800m in 6min 10sec, walk for full 400m lap, repeat)

Week 7:
Tue 9/4 - 30 min run/walk
Thur 9/6 - 30 min run/walk
Sun 9/9 - 12 mile run/walk

Week 8:
Tue 9/11 - 30 min run/walk
Thur 9/13 - 30 min run/walk
Sun 9/15 - 5K Race (not sure what race I will do yet, but I'll figure something out!)

Week 9:
Tue 9/18 - 30 min run/walk
Thur 9/20 - 4-5x800m (on a track - run each 800m in 6min 10sec, walk for full 400m lap, repeat)
Sun 9/23 - 14 mile run/walk

Week 10:
Tue 9/25 - 30 min run/walk
Thur 9/27 - 30 min run/walk
Sun 9/30 - 5-6x800m (on a track - run each 800m in 6min 10sec, walk for full 400m lap, repeat)

Week 11:
Tue 10/2 - 30 min run/walk
Thur 10/4 - 30 min run/walk
Sun 10/7 - 15 mile run/walk

Week 12: 
Tue 10/9 - 30 min run/walk
Thur 10/11 - 6-7x800m (on a track - run each 800m in 6min 10sec, walk for full 400m lap, repeat)
Sun 10/14 - 6 mile run/walk

Week 13:
Tue 10/16 - 30 min run/walk
Thur 10/18 - 30 min run/walk
Sun 10/21 - Detroit Half-Marathon

***After this, as mentioned above, I will start Jeff Galloway's Time Improvement PHM Plan***
